The first tip on ‘How to drink Whiskey like a Gentleman’ is: Pick your Whiskey wisely. Indian Single Malt Whiskies qualify as the answer to that tip. They’re premium, delectable, and of a defined style in their own right. Indian whiskey is fruity and malty. Its ripe flavour sets it apart from a Scotch, and is best had neat. Here’s more about some of our award-winning, extremely smooth, Indian malts.
Amrut single malt, known for winning many international competitions, was manufactured by the first traditional single malt distillery: Amrut, estd. in 1948 in Bangalore. Amrut made great efforts and succeeded in creating an alcohol that would meet global standards, with 11 variants available worldwide. They brought together barley from Scotland and India, making it a true fusion of international flavors. Jim Murray, author of the Whiskey Bible called Amrut Fusion the 3rd finest whiskey in the world! There’s no surprise it translates to “nectar of the gods” in Sanskrit.
When it comes to its defined taste, Amrut has a heavy smoky palette, but is incredibly smooth and goes perfectly with Indian spicy food. At present, there are three single malt variants in the domestic market: Amrut Indian Single Malt, Amrut Fusion Single Malt and Amrut Peated Indian Single Malt. Go get your hands on them ASAP!
Paul John, a champion in the global malt whisky scene, is the master creation of John Distilleries. Goa was specially chosen as the home of Paul John single malts, mostly for its unique microclimate. The taste… It’s a mix of honey sweetness, smooth silkiness and spicy bitterness, with a wonderful after taste.
Best variants: Paul John BOLD. A whiff of smoke, honey & spice on the nose and a melt-in-the-mouth, silky, oak-like honey on the palate.
Paul John EDITED. Honey and cocoa, laced with a hint of smokiness and a shot of espresso, also a slight fruity fragrance. On the palate: At first, it’s the barley flavour, that later gently make way for subtle peat notes. They slowly dissolve and pave way for a rush of mint and mocha.
Paul John BRILLIANCE. This ‘brilliant’ sparkling copper malt is made of sweet and spice and all things nice. The honey-like smoothness is offset by the crunchy-bar-like crispness.
